The first ice hall in Sørlandet, opened in 2011

Idda Arena at Grim in Kristiansand was the first ice hall in Sørlandet. The facility was approved in 2005, BRG Entreprenør AS built it for Kristiansand kommune, and construction took just over a year, from January 2010 to May 2011. The hall opened on 3 September 2011. It replaced Idda Idrettsplassen, an outdoor sports field used for skating, football (first used in 1924) and athletics, which hosted the Norwegian individual speedway championship in 1960.

Besides the ice hall, used for ice hockey and figure skating, the arena has a curling hall, a multi-purpose hall, a 350 square metre martial-arts hall, a 200 square metre dance and warm-up area and a 100 square metre strength-training room. Kristiansand Hockey, Idda Ishockeyklubb and Christianssands Curling Club are among its home clubs. Known skating results from the outdoor ground at the site run from 1921/22 to 1986/87.
