IJsvereniging Assendelft: 155 years of skating, from natural ice to youth lessons in Alkmaar
Currently out of season IJsvereniging Assendelft's natural-ice rink at Dorpsstraat 420 is closed for now: the club's latest ice news, from 9 January 2026, says it needs 5 to 8 cm of ice to open for children and that its ice masters were watching the situation; nothing is posted for the coming winter yet. No sessions are listed here. Checked 11 October 2026. Official schedule update
IJsvereniging Assendelft is an ice club that has existed for 155 years. When the frost comes, the ice masters keep a close eye on the ice: the club needs 5 to 8 cm to open for children, and it reports news to its followers as soon as there is any.
The club's news from the first cold weekend of January 2026 captures the mood: it gets cold, the itch starts and ice fever follows. Donors to the club are not entitled to free use of the rink when it opens.
Every year the club also gives its young members skating lessons. The course has 10 lessons, held on Saturdays from 8.45 to 9.45 in Alkmaar, and its season passes are handed out at the club in October.
