Built with TAO funds for youth hockey, first on the ice on 31 August 2021, with geothermal heating and cooling
The Mátyásföldi Jégcsarnok was built by Mátyásföldi Jégcsarnok Nonprofit Kft. from TAO sports funding and private investment as a facility for training young hockey players. Design began in the autumn of 2019 alongside the purchase of the site, the foundation stone was laid on 24 September 2020, and the first skaters stepped on the ice on 31 August 2021.
Its designers put environmentally conscious operation first: the whole hall is heated and cooled geothermally, and the refrigeration plants reuse their waste heat in full. Permission for a solar panel system was sought and installation began in 2023.
The building has 12 changing rooms, a methodology room, a teaching room and a large buffet area, with a shooting range for hockey beside it. It joined the national Jégpályák Éjszakája in January 2026, with an evening and a late-night public session.
