Funabashi's twin-sheet rink in the MFLP park, open every day since December 2020
Mitsui Fudosan Ice Park Funabashi opened on 13 December 2020 inside the MFLP Funabashi logistics park, on the site of the old Funabashi auto-race track. It is described as the first independent twin rink in Japan, and it brought skating back to Funabashi after twelve years: the city's winter-only outdoor rink at Natsumi had closed in 2008.
The A rink measures 60 by 30 metres to International Skating Union standard, about 1,800 square metres, and the B rink, about 900 square metres, is the practice rink and is also used for lessons and school outings. The cooling uses a natural-refrigerant NH3/CO2 system and energy-saving technology.
The rink is open every day of the year, and the monthly public-session calendar needs no booking. Inside, the air is below 10 degrees even in summer. The rink is run by Patine Leisure.
