Tokyo's only ward-run ice rink, open from October to May since 1982
Edogawa Sports Land in Higashi-Shinozaki opened in 1982 as the only public skating rink in Tokyo and is still the only one run by a ward among the 23 wards. Kato Shokai, which also runs Ice Rink Sendai, manages it. Skating runs each year from 1 October to 31 May, and in summer the same hall becomes a 50 metre pool.
The indoor sheet is 60 by 30 metres and is used for ice hockey, figure skating and short track as well as public sessions; the upper-floor gallery is free to watch from. Mao Asada's Thanks Tour Tokyo show was held here.
Public skating is posted day by day on the rink's site. Tuesdays and Thursdays, outside the winter and spring school holidays, are normally given over to lessons, so public sessions fall on the other days.
