Gothenburg's 12,600 m2 Angered arena opened on 13 April 2013 with an ice hall, a pool and a gym

Angered Arena was decided in 2007 as a combined pool and ice complex for the district, and the city council approved a budget in December 2010. In 2009 Higab ran a design competition for six architecture firms that Erséus arkitekter won with a proposal called "Well", and the first spade went into the ground on 20 March 2011.
The name came from a public contest: 333 proposals were handed in, and on 4 February 2013 a jury chose Angered arena. The building was inaugurated on 13 April 2013 and opened for regular use the next day. It covers 12,600 square metres with an ice hall, a pool and a gym, and the ice hall's stand holds 300 people.
One stated aim was to show the people of Angered that money was being invested in the district. Parts of the Swedish Television programme Summercamp were recorded in the arena in 2013.
