The Ruddalen bandy field, roofed and iced in 2022-23 after mild winters shortened the outdoor season
Ruddalens ishall in Frölunda, Gothenburg, is the Ruddalen bandy field rebuilt as an ice hall because of mild, short winters. Before it got walls and a roof, the field was open-air, and the project was described in 2022 as giving Gothenburg bandy its first hall.
The hall has an ice surface of 6,900 square metres and a new stand for 1,200 spectators. Partition walls can divide it, so three separate activities can run on the ice at the same time. SK Höjden, Slottshof, BK Rosa, IK Wega, the Göteborgs långfärdsskridskoklubb touring-skating club and IFK Göteborg's skating section are its home clubs.
Clubs moved in during December 2022, and over the Christmas break the hall was already open to the public, drawing 700 to 800 visitors on some days. The official inauguration followed on 20 January 2023 with skating displays, a public skating disco and a Sweden-Finland bandy match for 19-year-old boys, and the 2023 youth world championship in bandy was played in the hall that weekend.

Children under 12 are welcome together with a responsible adult. In Ruddalens ishall stick and puck (or ball) play is always possible while the hall is open to the public, but only on a marked part of the ice (about a third); the boards are low, so play calmly and look out for other skaters.
