Ruddalens skrinnarhall, known as Rudhallen, has a 400-metre oval and is the only speed skating venue in Sweden with the entire facility under one roof. It was the venue for the 2003 World Allround Speed Skating Championships.
The hall was closed for the 2019/20 season, and activity had even stopped for some years because the pipes that cool the ice were broken. The area was forgotten and left derelict until 2020, when the City of Gothenburg decided that something sensible had to be done.
The rebuild repaired the cooling pipes and added a concrete slab, which the city said gives better conditions for holding ice, and a further 2,000 square metres of ice surface. In January 2023 the aim was to finish the hall, next to the new Ruddalens ishall, by March.
