A CO2-neutral artificial-ice rink in the Weihnachtsmarkt-Dorf

The Kunsteisbahn stands in the Weihnachtsmarkt-Dorf at the Pauluskirche in Hamm and is open for skating during the day. Its artificial-ice surface is CO2-neutral, because it needs no electricity, no water and no cooling system.

Untrained skaters, newcomers and whole families get the chance to take their first steps on the ice thanks to the rental skates. Gloves are compulsory on the rink while skating is under way. Because the surface is synthetic, the rink needs no refrigeration and is described by the city as environmentally friendly.

In the evening the skating surface turns into a synthetic-ice Eisstock lane, with a cup for teams and individual lanes for groups. The rink belongs to Hamm's Weihnachtsmarkt, which runs from late November to the end of December and stays closed on Christmas Eve and the two Christmas holidays.
