Artificial-ice stadium finished in 1977, home of the ESC Kempten Sharks

Eisstadion Kempten, also known as the Dewart Arena, was completed in 1977. Before that, Kempten's hockey players, who had joined TSV Kottern-St. Mang in 1951, played on natural ice, and they won the Bavarian Landesliga championship in 1976. The Eis Sport Club Kempten, founded in 2007, now calls the stadium home.

The club was founded by hockey fans, players and parents of players. They wanted ice sports to have a future in the town after the Eisbären GmbH went insolvent and TSV Kottern withdrew from league play, and the new club took over with one senior team and four youth teams. The amateur side Cosmos Eich joined in 2009-10, and figure skater Timo Müller became Bavarian and German runner-up in 2008-09.

A learn-to-skate school feeds the youth sides. In the 2025-26 season the arena hosted a celebration of 75 years of ice hockey in Kempten over two evenings, with a fan festival and a hut village, and the Sharks played Waldkraiburg Löwen and Landsberg Riverkings.
