Kushiro's Harutori ice rink, a 3,000-capacity hall named after its sponsor
Nissho Ice Arena, the city's Harutori Ice Arena, is a two-storey reinforced-concrete and steel hall with room for 3,000 spectators, 1,500 seated and 1,500 standing. Its single 30 by 60 metre ice sheet is frozen with the ice-panel system, the same method the city uses at its Yanagimachi rink. The hall stands in the Harutori district of Kushiro, and the city's facility list gives it as one rink of 60 by 30 metres.
The rink is open from April to May and again from August to March, with the summer gap for maintenance, and it closes on 31 December and 1 January. Early mornings and evenings are let to clubs and teams, which is why the daytime public sessions are the only ones open to everyone.
The foundation's monthly sheet shows when the ice is open to the public, normally in the daytime, and the days when tournaments or junior hockey take the ice.
