Opened in 2001 as a private rink

CityGlace opened in 2001 as a private rink on avenue Bartholdi, after the previous rink in Le Mans, on boulevard Jean-Jacques-Rousseau, closed in 2000. The operating company was created on 16 May 2001. The ice measures 56 by 26 metres, federation dimensions that allow ice dance, hockey, figure skating and short track.

The new building let the Hockey Club du Mans start again: in the 2001-02 season the club counted 87 players. It is the only ice hockey club in the Sarthe and takes children from 4 years old as well as adult beginners. CityGlace also runs its own skating school, which counts 340 pupils from the Babies group at 4 to adult classes.

Public sessions are built around animation. Evenings have lights and mixed music under the name CityGlace By Night, and Sunday mornings include an ice-painting workshop for children. Halloween brings a special afternoon session and a Zombies Night.
