The town of Leonding lays its winter ice on the Stadtplatz in front of the town hall every year
Public skating at Eislaufplatz Stadtplatz: the next 7 days
Currently out of season The city of Leonding's page for the Eislaufplatz on the Stadtplatz still shows the 2025/26 season, from Monday 15 December 2025 to Sunday 22 February 2026, with that season's hours, and no 2026/27 dates, so no sessions are listed here. The city's rink rules say the rink is open in suitable weather and that the exact season times are posted at the entrance. Checked 10 October 2026. Official schedule update

A pop-up rink in front of Leonding's town hall
The Eislaufplatz on Leonding's Stadtplatz is a rink the town builds each winter in front of the town hall. Staff first put up the hut where the skates are kept, then an outside firm brings thick plates by lorry, comparable to marquee flooring, which are laid on the square. Every shoe size from 26 to 46 is welcome, and small penguins and dwarfs give beginners something to hold on to.
The rink has become a popular winter meeting place. The town council decided for 2025/26 to keep the rink despite rising costs and budget consolidation, and for the first time it asks visitors for a small contribution. Local firms support it with advertising on the boards.
Each season brings extras. Steinbach Black Wings Linz players and the hockey brothers Robert and Philipp Lukas have signed autographs and run taster training with the Steel Wings, and an ice disco is held on the square.
