A covered Christmas rink on the Place de la Cathédrale since 1999

The Patinoire de Noël de Liège has been part of the city's year-end festivities since 1999, under the 'Liège, Ville de Noël' concept with a very wide programme of events. It stands for five weeks on the Place de la Cathédrale, described as the liveliest commercial heart of the city, and receives more than 20,000 skaters every year.

The 800 m² ice is fully covered by a 1,000 m² roof of 40 by 25 metres to protect it from the weather, and each session takes about 250 skaters. For more than 20 years the Cathedral rink has been an essential part of Liège's Christmas, next to the Village de Noël, described as the largest and oldest Christmas market in Belgium. The rink is run by Folks Events.
