Built in 1991 for the Albertville Games, which played 46 ice hockey matches on its ice in February 1992
Currently out of season Méribel Tourisme's patinoire page (updated 8 October 2026) lists the Parc Olympique ice rink (1,500 m2 of ice) as open from 5 December 2026 to 18 April 2027, Tuesday to Sunday from 16:00 to 19:00. The resort's Parc Olympique page says the rink was replaced by an indoor play area for summer 2026 after technical problems last winter. Official schedule update
The Méribel Ice Palace was built in 1991 and held 8,000 people when it opened. Its ice hosted the ice hockey games of the 1992 Winter Olympics: 46 matches between 8 and 23 February 1992, ending with the Unified Team of the former USSR beating Canada in the final.
After the Games the arena became the Patinoire Olympique, its capacity was reduced to 2,400, and part of the building was converted to other uses, including a swimming pool. The bowl of the Olympic flame from the 1992 Games is placed beside the Parc Olympique de Méribel, the complex that includes the rink.
Since 2007 the rink has also hosted the finalist teams of the Ice Hockey League Cup. For public skating the rink offers 1,500 m² of ice, with skating aids such as penguins, chairs and helmets for beginners.
