Opened on 8 February 1986 on the Jeunes-Rives: two covered rinks and a curling hall by the lake.
The Patinoires du Littoral were inaugurated on 8 February 1986 on the Jeunes-Rives, behind the Maladière stadium, replacing the old rink at Monruz. The new hall held close to 7,500 places. Before the season ended, HC Université Neuchâtel played the first official game there, against Young Sprinters, in front of 1,500 spectators.
The site holds two covered rinks, the main one in use from early August to the end of March and the secondary one from mid-September to mid-March, with a curling hall as an annex. Some 20,000 people skate there each year, and more than 800 athletes train and play with the six clubs that use the rinks.
When the ice is taken out, the building becomes one of the largest event spaces in the canton, with over 75,000 visitors a year who never put on skates. In 1991 Young Sprinters had its best season since the inauguration and returned to the Ligue Nationale B.
