A volunteer-run winter rink beside the Berntor

Murten on Ice is the winter ice field at the Berntor in Murten, run with the help of about 160 volunteers and supported by more than 90 sponsors and almost all the communes of the region. Visitors are welcomed in a rustic chalet beside the ice.

The Hockey Club Murten has trained on the ice since the 2022/23 season. The Hockeyschule "Morning for Kids" offers a free weekly ice-hockey training for children on Sunday mornings between November and February, and the school lends hockey equipment, in whole or in part. On Thursday evenings the ice is reserved for hockey players aged 13 and over, with gloves and a helmet compulsory.

Ice stock tournaments are played on every second Monday evening, with ten teams competing for the title, and on Saturdays from 9 to 10 the ice is reserved for children aged 3 to 6, who skate under their parents' supervision. The calendar includes an opening disco, a closing disco and a match between former internationals of HC Fribourg-Gottéron and SC Bern in January.
