The training rink beside the BCF Arena, built in 2010
The Patinoire communale Saint-Léonard, called P2, was built in 2010, two years after the sports hall next to it, and made Saint-Léonard a sports site. It stands on the Plateau d'Agy, on the ground of a former small valley that was filled in and levelled. The city's own papers call it the training rink, the second of Fribourg's two covered rinks beside the BCF Arena (P1).
The building was recent enough in the early 2010s that a plan to demolish it for a new arena was set aside. When the BCF Arena was rebuilt in 2018 and 2020, the city planned to enlarge P2, with premises for figure skating along the allée du Cimetière; HC Fribourg-Gottéron is among those who rent its changing rooms.
Both rinks are used by several sports clubs, and heat released when the ice is made is to be recovered to warm the site's buildings and its hot water.
