Built in 1988 beside Jordal Amfi as a practice hall for the 1989 B-pool World Championship
Currently out of season Oslo kommune's page for the hall prints public time from 24 October (Saturdays 09:15-11:00) with no end date and says some exceptions occur (see the hall's calendar); that is the weekly timetable listed here, checked on 4 October 2026. Sessions are listed to 2 November 2026. The page says nothing about public holidays, so nothing is listed on them. Official schedule update
Jordal ungdomshall was built in 1988 to give the 1989 B-pool ice hockey World Championship in Norway a training hall, offices and more dressing rooms. Most of the championship matches were played in the neighbouring Jordal Amfi, with others in Lørenskog and in Lillehammer.
The hall stands just south of Jordal Amfi in Jordal sports park, and organised ice sports, hockey and figure skating, have it in the evenings and at weekends; the Oslo Ice Hockey District allocates its time. The big arena, Jordal Amfi, is used by Vålerenga, and the old Jordal Amfi was demolished and replaced by a new one that opened in 2020.
More than 30 years after it was built, the city decided to rehabilitate the hall. The ice quality had long been poor because settlement damage had affected the cooling pipes, the ventilation was undersized and had reached the end of its life, and the electrical system was outdated.
