Home of the EV Pfronten Falcons, a second-tier club in the 1970s

The Eisstadion Pfronten is the home of the EV Pfronten, founded in 1949. Its ice surface measures 1,800 square metres (30 by 60 metres) and serves skaters, hockey players and ice stock shooters, and the municipality of Pfronten runs the stadium.

The club rose to the Oberliga in 1969. When the 2. Eishockey-Bundesliga was introduced in 1973, Pfronten was placed in the second tier and stayed there until relegation in 1978-79. The club stopped play for financial reasons after 1995-96, and in 1997 a new team and board went through the Bezirksliga unbeaten into the Landesliga. In 1998-99 the EVP won the Bavarian Landesliga title and dropped only three points.

Since 2011-12 the Falcons have played in the Bavarian Landesliga Süd-West. A women's team played under the club's name from 1990 to 2000 and again from 2009 to 2012, at times in the Bundesliga. The club marked its 75th anniversary in 2024, and its hockey tradition runs from the learn-to-skate school to the seniors.
