Füssen's Bundesstützpunkt, a century of ice sport under one roof

Füssen's ice sport began with a club founded in 1922 at the Hotel Sonne in the town, and two years later it was playing tournament-standard ice hockey. In 1929 the team won its first Bavarian championship, in Oberstdorf.

The old home ground was the Kobelstadion, where a match against a Canadian side once drew more than 16,000 spectators. The club carried heavy debts for years after building an artificial ice rink and a stadium in the late 1940s.

The Bundesleistungszentrum has stood here since 1973 and the present arena since 1990. Today the Bundesstützpunkt belongs to the town of Füssen and works closely with the German Ice Hockey Federation and the German Curling Association, and it offers public skating for families, groups and anyone who wants to enjoy the ice.
