Public skating at energie schwaben arena: the next 7 days
Currently out of season The city's timetable for the 2026/27 season (public skating and Eisdisco, start dates from 12 September 2026) names no end date; the sessions shown are its weekly regular times up to 2 November, checked on 3 October 2026. It does not say what happens on public holidays, so no sessions are listed on them. On Sundays with an 18:00 home match (4, 11 and 25 October) the afternoon session is shown to 14:45, because the timetable says it can end then; times can change for hockey matches. Opened in October 2017 after a citizens' vote
The energie schwaben arena replaced the old ice stadium on the Berliner Platz, which had to be closed for ten months for structural reasons. The city council decided on 29 July 2014 to build a new hall, and in a citizens' vote on 18 January 2015 about 60 percent backed a stadium fit for professional ice hockey. The city founded the municipal enterprise Eisstadion Kaufbeuren AöR to build and run it.
Construction began with a symbolic first spade on 6 April 2016 and the roof-raising followed on 2 December 2016. The arena opened on 6 October 2017 with an open day, an ice revue the next day and the ESV Kaufbeuren's first home game on 8 October, a 1:0 win over EHC Freiburg. The ice measures 1,774 square metres and the hall seats and stands 3,136 spectators.
The Germany national team played its first game here on 11 April 2019, and the arena hosted the men's ice-hockey U18 World Championship from 23 April to 1 May 2022.
