Three artificial sheets in Imanta, two open all year, home of HK Prizma and the Pārdaugava sports school
The Volvo sporta centrs in Imanta, Rīga, was founded in 2005. It has three artificial ice sheets, two of them open all year and one seasonal, and in summer one of the sheets is covered with an artificial surface for inline hockey, floorball and other sports. The grounds also hold an outdoor sports field and a hockey skills area called Skillbox.
The centre is home to HK Prizma, a team in the Optibet Hockey League, and to the Pārdaugava sports school. It hosts Latvian Hockey Federation championship games and international events such as Riga Cup and Volvo Open Cup, and its gallery shows the Latvian national team training here before a world championship and a figure skating competition, the ISU Volvo Open Cup.
Public skating is posted on the centre's own pages week by week, in the early afternoon on weekdays and in longer blocks on weekends, with separate mass sessions with sticks.
