Schwaz's Eislaufplatz gained a fixed roof, new refrigeration and solar panels in 2023

Public skating at Eislaufplatz Schwaz: the next 7 days

Currently out of season The town of Schwaz's page for the Eislaufplatz says the 2025/26 skating season ended when the rink closed on 25 February 2026, and prints that season's regular hours (Monday to Saturday 13:30 to 17:00, Friday and Saturday 17:00 to 20:00 with music, Sunday 13:30 to 17:30) but no 2026/27 dates, so no sessions are listed here. The rink has been roofed, a cold-air hall, since the 2023/24 season. Checked 10 October 2026. Official schedule update

An open-air rink roofed over in 2023

The Eislaufplatz in the east of Schwaz was an open-air rink whose season kept shrinking: in the years before 2023 its winter operating time had fallen from four full months to two. In summer it serves neighbouring schools and many clubs as a multi-purpose sports ground. In June 2022 the town council decided to modernise the sports facilities in the east of the town in 2023.

The rink was given a fixed roof, and the surface was renewed so it also works as a basketball and volleyball court. The whole roof area, 1,700 square metres, was to carry a photovoltaic installation, and the refrigeration technology was renewed too. A new clubhouse for the Sportstockschützen, the town's Eisstock club, was built alongside.

On 25 November 2023 the now weatherproof rink was opened with a show by Schwaz figure skater Marie-Dorothee Kraler and an ice disco in the early evening. After years of uncertain ice conditions, the roof lets skating run through the whole season. The ice disco now runs on Friday and Saturday evenings, and the rink is always open in the mornings for school sport.
