An open rink from 1979, roofed in 2001

Zimní stadion Skuteč was handed over to the town's residents in December 1979 as an open rink. It ran until the 1995/96 season, when financial problems at SK Botas Skuteč stopped both the stadium's operation and the hockey club. After a two-year pause the ice came back through a new club, HC Skuteč, founded on 17 September 1997.

The rink was roofed in 2001. The steel frame of a hockey hall came from the rebuilt winter stadium in České Budějovice.

HC Skuteč still plays on the ice. Its men's team won the Pardubice regional competition in 2008/09 before a record home crowd of 700, and lost the 2023/24 final of the regional men's league to the reserves of HC Litomyšl. Since the 2006/07 season the club has run seven youth categories; together with Chrudim it was the only club in the region to do so.
