Södertälje's classic outdoor rink, home of SSK since 1955

Månskensrinken opened in 1955 as the home ground of Södertälje sportklubb, and for years it looked more or less the same. Its glory days ended when Scaniarinken was completed in 1970 and SSK moved there.

The artificial-ice outdoor rink is still used for ice hockey, rink bandy, figure skating and public skating. Many local children skate here on ordinary evenings and afternoons, some arriving straight from Rosenborgskolan with their skates.

The original rink was due a rebuild with a new concrete base, new boards and refurbished player benches, which meant three SSK youth groups that usually train here could not book ice for that season. Its hockey past also reached the screen, when scenes for the tennis film about Björn Borg were shot here and SSK lent out three fifteen-year-old players.
