Sörenberg on Ice: the Entlebuch ice field born as a 2023 pilot and secured by a crowdfunding
Currently out of season Sörenberg on Ice, the volunteer-run outdoor ice field on Sporthausstrasse in Sörenberg, says on its home page that the 2026/27 season starts on 28 November 2026 at 13:00. Standard opening hours for the season are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 16:00-21:30 (from 14:00 in school holidays), Wednesday and Saturday 14:00-21:30 and Sunday 10:00-18:00; changes because of the weather are possible. No sessions are listed here until the field opens. Checked 11 October 2026. Official schedule update
The club Sörenberg on Ice was founded on 13 September 2023, and the ice field on Sporthausstrasse opened for the first time as a pilot on 15 December 2023. The first season already recorded more than 7,000 entries, with a warm response from holiday guests and locals alike.
To keep the ice field going, the club launched a crowdfunding in December 2023 with the aim of selling at least 850 square metres of ice. By the end of the season on 25 February 2024 it had sold 921 square metres, well above the target, which secured operation for the next years.
A bistro right at the ice serves warming drinks and snacks, and an evening of curling followed by a fondue is also on offer.
