Opened on 19 September 1969 as one of Czechia's oldest covered winter stadiums; rebuilt in 2016-2018
Šumperk's winter stadium was ceremonially opened on 19 September 1969 as one of the oldest covered winter stadiums in Czechia. It was linked to the Hotel Sport from the time of construction, and rooms in the hotel now serve as the base of the men's team.
Now called the ŠKODA aréna, the stadium has an official capacity of 2,500 spectators. It stands in the sports centre on the edge of the town, on the road out towards Dolní Studénky and right next to the football pitch.
A long-planned reconstruction started in 2016, with a new ice surface, a new ice resurfacer room and completely replaced cooling technology. In 2017 the roof was structurally secured, its covering replaced and its steel structure repainted, and part of the Hotel Sport was insulated. In 2018 the outer shell of the stadium was insulated and the interior repainted and tidied.
