A real-ice, open-air rink with its own festive bar on Glasgow Green, Glasgow's oldest park
Currently out of season The ice rink at Glasgow's Winter Wonderland on Glasgow Green is open on selected dates and times from 20 November 2026 to 3 January 2027; sessions start on the hour and each lasts about 45 minutes. Official schedule update
Glasgow's Winter Wonderland puts a bigger and better ice rink on Glasgow Green in 2026, complete with its own festive bar. The ice is real and the rink is open air, so skaters are told to wrap up and dress for the weather; ice marshals and a first aider are on site throughout.
Glasgow Green was established in the 15th century and is the oldest park in the city. In 1450 King James II granted the parkland to Bishop William Turnbull and the people of Glasgow. Inventor James Watt was strolling here in 1765 when he hit upon the idea of the separate condenser for the steam engine, and Bonnie Prince Charlie's army camped in Flesher's Haugh from 25 December 1745 to 3 January 1746.
Special ASN sessions on Sunday 29 November and Sundays 6 and 12 December run the ice at reduced capacity, with toned down lighting and sound. Skaters can warm up afterwards at the 800-seat bar, which has free entertainment.
