Opened in 1993: two NHL rinks and a 45-by-85-foot sheet inside a 77,337-square-foot building
Twin Ponds East Arena opened in 1993 as a multi-purpose sports facility in Harrisburg, and Black Bear Sports Group owns it today. The 77,337-square-foot building houses three ice surfaces: two NHL-size rinks and a smaller 45-by-85-foot sheet.
Figure skating and hockey share those sheets. The Twin Ponds Figure Skating Club, an affiliate member club of U.S. Figure Skating, is based here. The Palmyra Black Knights, a Tier I and Tier II youth hockey program, split their ice between Twin Ponds and Klick Lewis Arena in Annville. Penn State Harrisburg also calls the arena home, alongside four high school programs, Lower Dauphin, Cumberland Valley, West Shore and Central Dauphin, plus the Keystone Kraken and the Susquehanna Stampede.
Expect a busy building. Twin Ponds records over 850,000 in foot traffic annually, which makes it one of Pennsylvania's most heavily visited venues.
