A member-owned rink open since 1968

Inverness Ice Centre first opened its doors to the public in 1968. In 2004, with Sportscotland lottery funding, it became a registered charity, and it is now fully owned by its members.

Funding secured in 2016/17 paid for a new ice plant, a new ice pad and a new barrier system, and a second phase of work in March 2018 brought a refurbished car park and better access to the main building. The building holds a five rink ice arena for curling, ice hockey and ice skating, and the centre has nurtured world champions and Olympic gold medal-winning winter sports athletes.

Three hockey teams are based here: the junior Inverness Highlanders, formed in 1992, and two adult sides, among them the Hurricanes, whose players range from 18 to their mid-50s. Inverness Skating and Ice Dance Club has taught skaters here since 1989, and the Highland Synchronized Ice Skating Teams field four teams. The centre also plays host to the Strictly Inverness fundraiser for Highland Hospice.
