A township rink for the Toms River Blackhawks
Winding River Skating Center is the Township of Toms River's rink, made up of an outdoor ice rink and a newer indoor rink. The rinks are home to public skating, youth and adult hockey leagues, figure skating and teen events during the school year, and programs run throughout the year.
Hockey anchors the building. It is home to the Toms River Regional School District high school hockey team and the Toms River Blackhawks Youth Hockey Club, whose traveling teams call it their home ice. The center is an official rink partner of the NJ Devils, and its brochure lists the NJ Devils Grass Roots Program for ages 5 to 10. The township also runs a recreational youth league that is non-checking and non-travel.
Beyond hockey, the brochure advertises DJ Skate, geared toward teens under colored lights with music, and a Santa Skate. The Winding River Skating Academy offers a recreational group skating program through Learn to Skate USA.
