Underbelly's outdoor rink on the plateau of St George's Hall, opposite Lime Street station, new for 2026-27
Currently out of season Skate St George's opens for its first season on 21 November 2026 and runs to 3 January 2027, closed Christmas Day. Official schedule update
Skate St George's is new for the 2026-27 season. Liverpool awarded it to Underbelly after a competitive tender, alongside a separate covered rink at Pier Head, and Underbelly runs it as an outdoor ice rink and Christmas site set against St George's Hall.
The rink sits on the plateau of St George's Hall, directly opposite Lime Street Station. The hall opened in 1854 to a design by Harvey Lonsdale Elmes, who won the competition aged 25, and it is a Grade I listed building with concert halls and law courts. The plateau between the hall and the station holds four lions by Nicholl, equestrian bronzes of Prince Albert and Queen Victoria and the Grade I Liverpool Cenotaph, unveiled in 1930.
Around the ice are a Christmas market, a Christmas Tree Maze, a Big Wheel and a free live music programme, with a rooftop bar above the rink. About half of the site is tarmac and the rest cobbled, with matting laid over the main paths.
