Two NHL-sized rinks added to RecPlex in 2004

RecPlex Ice Arena is the ice arena at Pleasant Prairie's municipally owned RecPlex, which broke ground on October 12, 1999 and opened almost a year later, on October 1, 2000. The ice came four years after that: a 2004 expansion added a 79,000-square-foot ice arena with two NHL-sized rinks to the original complex.

At 302,000 square feet, RecPlex is the largest municipally owned recreation facility in the United States, and the two NHL-sized sheets sit inside it. Figure skating is run by the Pleasant Prairie Skating School, the RecPlex Ice Department's own program of classes and lessons. Youth hockey is the Vipers Hockey Club, which fields House recreational and Travel competitive teams; its youth players skate out of both RecPlex and Top Shelf Ice Arena.

The skating school's year is bookended by two annual ice shows, one at the holidays and one in spring, in which Pleasant Prairie Skating School classes, Freestyle students and competitive skaters perform. Around them the arena runs learn-to-play hockey, adult hockey, clinics, camps, leagues and public skating, and RecPlex marked 25 years of operation in 2025.
