Elk River's two-rink sales-tax arena

The Furniture and Things Community Event Center grew out of Elk River's community facility and ice arena projects, completed in 2020 and paid for by a newly approved sales tax. The design turned the city's existing ice arena into an indoor multi-purpose turf field with a walking track and fitness space, and a 75,000-square-foot addition was built around two new sheets of ice.

Both rinks are NHL size. The main arena seats 1,600 on two sides with seat backs, and another walking track circles the spectator area. The building also holds a senior center, community rooms with a catering kitchen, a turf field house and a training area where players work out, and an upper-level bar overlooks the main rink.

The two arenas carry sponsor names, Cornerstone Arena and Kiser Construction Arena, alongside The Yard x Rinks & Links and the Senior Activity Center. The city hosted high school section finals here on February 25 and 26, 2026, and its parks and recreation department has called the center a beacon for the region.
