Montgomery Parks' three-rink ice complex
Cabin John Ice Rink is one of two indoor skating facilities run by Montgomery Parks, set in the athletic area of Cabin John Regional Park in Rockville. It is open year-round with three rinks under one roof: NHL, Olympic and a smaller studio sheet.
Off the ice there is a dance studio and four party rooms for rent, a pro shop selling skating equipment and apparel with sharpening and repairs, and the Cabin John Café with snacks and free Wi-Fi. Adult pick-up hockey games are played on the NHL rink.
The rink stages events through the year, from a Halloween skate with a costume parade on the NHL rink to a December Winter Ice Show in which its figure skaters perform. When Montgomery Parks closed Wheaton Ice Arena from April to October 2025 to install a new refrigeration system, Cabin John added sessions and programs to absorb the loss.
