Pinetop's outdoor rink at Gaylord Opryland
The Pinetop rink is the outdoor ice at A Country Christmas at Gaylord Opryland Resort, which opened as Opryland Hotel on November 24, 1977, beside the Opryland USA amusement park. It stands in Pinetop, an outdoor village the resort describes as Appalachian-inspired, and the ice is real: a 9,000-square-foot rink under a tent, with holiday tunes playing.
The rink was already running by December 2020, when a resort marketing manager listed a 15-foot tubing hill, live music on a stage and a 9,000-square-foot ice rink at Pinetop. The programming around the ice has changed since. The resort's 39th annual Christmas offered skating lessons, the 2024 season billed a live Merry & Bright Skating Spectacular with champion skaters, and the 2025 announcement paired the tented rink with ice tubing and a bumper car experience.
