Westminster's rink, closed and reborn as Ice Realm

The Westminster rink was built in 1996, a 36,000-square-foot facility with a long history of skating memories for local families. After operating for more than a decade under the Anaheim Ducks organization, it closed in early 2024 following the pandemic downturn.

Ice Realm, the owner of Icetown Carlsbad, then announced it had acquired Westminster Ice Arena and committed to keeping its doors open, the result of work between Ice Realm, the Ducks organization and the building's owners. "We are thrilled to announce that Westminster Ice Arena will remain open," CEO Benjamin Frank said.

Ice Realm completed a full renovation before reopening to skaters, adding a lounge with a full menu of food and drinks. "We know how much this rink means to Westminster and our neighboring beach communities," executive vice president Rick Hutchinson said. The rink is now home to the California Surf Youth Hockey Program, which competes in the Southern California Amateur Hockey Association.

Admission

Public admission is $20 plus $8 rental. Children 7 and under are $15 including rentals with an accompanying adult; military and seniors 55+ are $18 including rentals with valid ID.
