Built on the former CPR roundhouse site in Hintonburg

Tom Brown Arena stands on the east side of Bayview, on the site of the former CPR roundhouse, in Ottawa's Hintonburg-Mechanicsville neighbourhood. The roundhouse land was the top site the city considered when it set out to buy land for a rink, and Tom Brown was the building that finally gave Hintonburg its long-awaited arena.

The building is a city recreation facility with a single NHL-sized ice pad. The Ottawa Adult Hockey League, a CARHA-sponsored league, is based out of the arena, and the pad also hosts ice hockey leagues, public skating sessions and figure skating programs.

In March 2019 the city listed Tom Brown among 20 sites that could one day be redeveloped for affordable housing, calling it a long-term opportunity to replace an aging recreation facility as part of a bigger redevelopment. The most recent change inside is new hockey netting around the pad, installed by September 2025.
