Minden’s arena, opened in fall 2020
Construction of the new Minden Hills Community Centre, Recreation Complex and S.G. Nesbitt Memorial Arena began in 2019, and the building opened to the public in the fall of 2020. Its NHL regulation-size ice pad stays in from mid-July to the May long weekend, with programs each season running from public skating to adult shinny.
Spectators get warm viewing areas on both the lower and upper floors, seating for 294 and standing room for 90, and the arena has six change rooms. It is home to the Highland Storm and the Minden Figure Skating Club.
The rest of the complex holds a fitness centre, a full-size gymnasium set up for basketball, volleyball, pickleball and badminton, and a two-lane, 100-metre rubberized indoor walking track, with change rooms and showers for program users.
