A seasonal rink at Isthmus Park that opened November 16, 2018 and drew over 20,000 skaters in year one
Currently out of season The City of Olympia's Oly on Ice page says the 2025-26 season has come to a close and that the city looks forward to welcoming skaters back next season to the pop-up rink at Isthmus Park. Official schedule update
Oly on Ice is a seasonal rink at Isthmus Park in downtown Olympia, a 2.34-acre multi-use space between Capitol Lake and the southern tip of Puget Sound. The idea of a seasonal pop-up rink first surfaced at the city in 2007. The city bought the isthmus property in 2013, razed the buildings on it in 2015 and developed it as interim park space in 2018.
Parks staff took the rink proposal to the City Council in May 2018, and the city hired Ice Rink Events, a contractor that builds modular pop-up rinks around the world. The rink was built in less than two weeks and opened on November 16, 2018. Its inaugural season exceeded 20,000 skaters, more than double the goal of 9,500.
