Stirling Sports Village's ice rink, with six sheets of curling ice

The Peak is the centrepiece of Stirling Sports Village, a hub that opened in 2009 and houses a gym, a climbing wall, a 25-metre pool and a nine-court sports hall around the ice rink. It was an official training centre during the 2012 London Olympics and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Active Stirling has managed it on behalf of Stirling Council for over 14 years.

Curling gives the ice its character. The main arena has six sheets of curling ice, with more available through the National Curling Academy when it is free, and the clubs that curl here call the Peak an important home for the sport in Scotland.

The ice has needed repair work. In October 2014, only five years after opening, the rink closed for several weeks after engineers found cracks in its walls, and in September 2025 works at the Peak delayed the start of the curling season by a week. The whole centre has drawn between 2,000 and 2,500 visitors every day, and outgrew the 3,500 members it was designed for.
