Wrestling venue of the 1994 Commonwealth Games
Juan de Fuca Arena is the ice rink inside the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre in Colwood, on the West Shore of Greater Victoria, British Columbia. The arena was a Commonwealth Games venue in August 1994, hosting the wrestling competition: ten weight classes contested between 18 and 28 August. A decade later, from 7 to 15 February 2004, the recreation centre staged the Canadian Junior Curling Championships.
Today the ice belongs to club hockey and community programs. The Westshore Wolves Hockey Club hosts its game days at JDF Arena, and West Shore Parks & Recreation runs its own skating lessons, beginning with early-years classes, plus Duffer Hockey and Family Stick & Puck sessions and hockey times dedicated to youth and adult players. Two adapted programs share the ice: South Island Ravens Hockey, for children with developmental disabilities, and a Learn to Play Para "Sledge" Hockey program, an adapted version of stand-up hockey open to all abilities.
