One of Stonewall's two rinks: home of the MMJHL Jets and host of the 2024 Viterra Championship
The Veterans Memorial Sports Complex is one of Stonewall's two hockey rinks, alongside the Stonewall Arena, known as the Ice Palace. It is the home arena of the Stonewall Jets, a Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League club for players 21 and under. The Jets played in the MJBHL from 1964 to 2001, joined the MMJHL in 2001 and previously played at the Ice Palace.
The Jets won their first championship in 2016: facing elimination in the first round, they won three straight games, then swept the regular-season winner, the Raiders, and the Pembina Valley Twisters in the final. They returned to the MMJHL final in 2017 and lost to the Raiders in six games.
The complex is also home to the Stonewall Collegiate Institute Rams, the Stonewall Blues Minor Hockey Association and the Stonewall Flyers senior club, and Stonewall's minor hockey and ringette teams hold their home games and practices here from October through March. In February 2024 it hosted the Viterra Championship, Manitoba's provincial men's curling championship, won by the Reid Carruthers rink.
