Rebuilt on the same site after a 1991 fire

Inwood Ice Arena is the indoor rink of Joliet's Inwood Recreation Center, where an ice rink was first built in 1961. Fire destroyed the old barn in August 1991. The center was rebuilt on the same site, paid for partly by a $1.2 million insurance settlement, and the new rink was ready for a new generation of players by the summer of 1993.

The arena is a single full-size 200-by-85-foot sheet with seating for 1,000, and the plan left room for a possible second sheet. Its rounded corners and stepped roof levels echo the shape of the ice sheet inside. The Inwood Athletic Club, approved in 2005, connects to the recreation center to form a 62,000-square-foot facility. The Inwood Skate School, the Jaguar Hockey Club and league play are based here; the Inwood Hockey League played its first games on January 18, 2010. Each year the arena hosts youth hockey tournaments for the Northern Illinois Hockey League and CCM Hockey, the skate school's spring ice show and the Harvest Gold ISI competition.

The first major renovation since 1993 came in 2024. After five months of work the arena reopened on September 24, 2024, with white paint brightening the interior, new dasher boards with plexiglass for a clearer view of the ice, and new bleachers around the rink.
