Bolingbrook's Lake Placid and Lake Tahoe rinks

Rocket Ice Skating Rink in Bolingbrook was established in 1999 and has two full-size rinks named Lake Placid and Lake Tahoe. It calls itself home to one of the largest figure skating communities in Chicagoland, and the Starfire Synchronized Skating team has been part of the rink since 2000.

It is also home to the Sabre Hockey Association, one of the largest and most established youth hockey organizations in Illinois. The club was founded as the Naperville Hockey League on June 22, 1971, and took its current name on October 18, 1993, as its membership spread across the western suburbs. Its 19U girls and 18U boys Midget Major teams have won Blackhawks' Cup state high school championships, and the rink's Learn to Play Hockey lessons follow USA Hockey's Advanced Development Model alongside the Blackhawks' Minor Hawks program.

Chicago Blackhawks great Bobby Hull once spent a day here meeting a team of young players in town for a tournament. The rink's own motto sums up its crowd: friendship, fitness and fun, ages 3 to 93.
