The Darien Sportsplex, owned and operated by the Darien Park District, was completed in 1999 for about $10 million, with Harbour as developer, designer and construction manager. It runs as an enterprise fund, paying its operating costs and debt from the revenue the facility earns.
The design-build project became a model for athletic facilities across Chicago's suburbs. The building now has three NHL-size ice surfaces, a 60-by-30-yard indoor turf fieldhouse, the ECO Pro Shop, a concession stand and meeting rooms, with seating for 1,250.
It is home to the Chicago Hawks Hockey Club, the Chicago Edge Skating Academy, Chicago Empire FC and SEASPAR's Eagles adult program, and it hosts Big Bear tournaments, 200x85/CCM hockey tournaments and Blackhawks Cup state events.

Public Skate and RAT Hockey run on a posted monthly PDF calendar and are walk-in against that schedule; dates and times are subject to change without notice, so the Sportsplex asks skaters to call (630) 789-6666 to verify before visiting.
