Steamboat Springs' indoor Olympic-size rink, home of the Sailors and bumper cars on ice.
Howelsen Ice Arena in Steamboat Springs is an indoor, Olympic-size rink of 100 by 200 feet, 20,000 square feet in all, and one of the only ice facilities in Colorado to offer bumper cars on ice.
It is home to the Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey Association, the Steamboat Springs High School Sailors and the Steamboat Springs Figure Skating Club, and hosts adult and youth hockey and skating programs along with hockey and figure skating camps. The junior Steamboat Wranglers also played here from 2016 until they ceased operations midway through the 2019-20 season.
In May 2026 the Steamboat Springs City Council approved a fundraising agreement with the youth hockey association and the Steamboat Skating Club for the Howelsen Ice Pavilion, the expansion that will add a covered, multi-use NHL-size sheet and a practice sheet. Planning for it dates back to 2015.
