Foothills Park and Recreation District's two-sheet arena
Edge Ice Arena is the Foothills Park and Recreation District's ice facility in southwest Denver, an 80,000-square-foot building that also holds the district's offices. It was designed with team locker rooms, a figure skating suite and raised bleacher seating, and in 2003 it earned an Award for Construction Excellence for its contribution to the community.
Inside are two NHL-size rinks: the East rink seats 750 and the West rink 500. The Penalty Box, a grill and bar on the main level, looks out on the ice so parents and fans can follow games and skating sessions from a table. The district counts Nicole Hensley, a gold medalist with the 2018 US women's Olympic hockey team, as one of the arena's own.
The Junior Women's Hockey League played its 2012 championship game here, North American Hockey Academy against Edge School. Carolyn Skoczen was coaching at Edge in 2019. The arena also donates a weekly ice slot to the DAWG Nation Hockey Foundation's Hockey Heals program, where players with medical conditions work to regain their strength and hockey skills.
