Two regulation ice rinks and a six-sheet curling complex in central Beaumont, with free public skating.
The Ken Nichol Regional Recreation Centre stands at 5303 50 Street, and the City of Beaumont calls it a centrally located hub of recreation in the community. It began as a winter facility and is now busy year-round.
Its two regulation-size ice rinks run from September to March, then turn into two dry-surface arenas from April to July. The building also holds a six-sheet curling complex with a curling lounge that is open to the public, a banquet room for 150 people and the Beaumont Childcare Centre.
From September to March the City runs free, community-sponsored public skating here and invites the whole family to spend time on the ice. Stick and puck sessions are for individual skill work; formal groups and hockey teams cannot run coached practices during them.
